CONE NOT PERPENDICULAR TO PLANE

Post by Ortega H » Tue May 07, 2019 3:18 pm

HELLO
I AM USING 3.6.3.4786 CMM MANAGER WITH UCC SERVER ON A REVOLUTION RENISHAW CMM WITH A PH20 5 AXIS HEAD
AND A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED HAVING ISSUE WITH PROJECTING CIRCLES FROM A CONE TO A PLANE.

I AM READING CHAMFERS AS CONES FOR THE ANGLES AND PROJECTION THEM TO THE SURFACE OF THE PLANE ASSOCIATED WITH THE CHAMFER FOR THE BASE DIAMETER,., AND I AM CONSISTANTLY GETTING THE ERROR CONE IS NOT PERPENDICULAR TO PLANE AND IT DOESNT GENERATE THE FEATURE.

I CANT SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CONE HITS,, ITS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE PLANE I AM PROJECTING TO ..
JUST NOT WORKING ..
ANYONE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND ANYONE KNOW OF A WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM ,, THANKS WILL TALK TO YOU ALL SOON I HOPE,,

ORTEGA

I AM PULLING FEATURES OFF OF A CAD MODEL
NOMINALS ALL LOOK CORRECT
ORIENTATION LOOKS CORRECT AND PROBE SEEMS TO BE READING THE FEATURE OK ,

THANKS

Shallow cones are tough, not just in CMM Manager.

I have found that CMM Manager does a better job with cones if you measure them as at least 3 circular sections.

If this doesn't resolve your problem, you could try measuring the cone as slices of lines and create intersect points with the top surface to create a circle for diameter.

i have been doing that too..
i will measure them in 2 levels first and if i start getting the perpendicular error ill add a third,,
its odd because its not always all the cone features. this latest one only one out of 4 do it, 2 of the others are about .070-.100 out of tolerence and some times one of them will be in.
this has me so stumped im not sure what i need to do
