Creating a cross section from the CAD editor

Post by medupriest » Thu Jun 27, 2019 3:57 pm

This is my preferred method of creating/measuring a cross section. Be sure the CAD is in Sync.

-Go to the Display ribbon tab
-Select "Editor" from the CAD section
-Go to the "Curves" tab
-Select "Cross Section"

This dialog is really simple if you just work from the top down. I typically use the "From CAD" option.

-Select "From CAD" Radio button, Select "Pick", Pick the CAD entity that you want to use to establish the cutting plane.
-Apply an offset (+/-) to the depth you want the cutting plane to be and apply it.
-Select "Create Cross Section"
-Select a method of picking the curves you want in the cross section and pick the entities
-Choose whether on not you would like a polyline, and select "ADD"

You are done. You can close out of this window and can use the curve for measuring and Cloud-to-Curve reporting.

Here's an interesting topic for subsequent Cloud to Curve Reporting - viewtopic.php?f=39&t=461
