Groove depth/width using a disc probe

Post by pfunk » Thu Mar 22, 2018 2:14 pm

Has anyone used a disc probe to measure the width of a groove? Here's a cross-section of a port that I need to check

I can check the diameters just fine, but Manager treats my 10mm disc as a sphere and doesn't like to use the "top" and "bottom" of the disc for length measurements.

I understand I would have to compensate the hits by half the disc's thickness. I also know I could do this with a star probe, but that's not an option right now.

Has anyone used a disc probe this way? Any ideas?

You can in fact measure on the top and bottom of disc probe. I think you may need to enter the disc thickness manually or set thickness via VB variable, then use that thickness value to offset measurements performed using top or bottom of disc probe.
