Reporting a perpendicularity

Post by Cdawg1184 » Thu Jan 15, 2015 10:19 am

I am inspecting some shafts and I am using a cylinder to level, and creating a Best Fit Plane from 6 points from a perpendicular surface.

My question is when I report the Plane perpendicularity do I use the ZX option or the ZA option to report this surface to the cylinder (level)

I would use the 3D option... This is the total perpendicularity, where the work-plane options are isoloating the perpendicularity from a particular view - i.e. YZ or ZX.

I am using the 3D, but it will not let me report until I put a Datum in.

That's right... You cannot evaluate any GD&T with a Datum Reference. You are evaluating how perpendicular the feature is in reference to some other feature.
