Points or point cloud is the easiest method and most preferred in my opinion as well. Especially with the right mouse click for create cloud to cad graphical report. I use that a lot!

I have a new question regarding point clouds. Is there a way to generate a plane from a point cloud?
I've had a few instances where I've done a point cloud on a surface and then while dimensioning the part I realize That I needed the flatness or perpendicularity of the surface.... and have to go back and hit plane on the surface. I would imagine that there must be a way to manually click on those points from a cloud and create a plane, but..... I can't find it anywhere.
Is it possible to do?

Thanks!

Construct Best Fit Feature... Choose the Plane option and add Cloud(s) to the feature.

Awesome! Figures it would be something that simple.
I'll give that a try next time.

Thank you Sir!

I'm having this same issue with profile. I'm taking cloud points on a lot of surfaces. Can I report on all of the clouds at the same time for the profile?

Use Cloud to CAD for Profile evaluation that contains multiple surfaces. The traditional Profile output is only good for multiple features if the are prismetric. Irregular features (Clouds) must be evaluated for Profile using Cloud to CAD instead.
