Coaxiality Measurement

Post by apothecary10 » Thu Aug 09, 2018 4:57 pm

Hello,

I am measuring an upright that has a wheel bearing pressed in, one in the front and one in the rear. There is a coaxiality call out and I was curious which method is best used. For each bearing bore I am measuring them as cylinders. I was curious which one of the options below would give me the coaxiality measurement below.

1. Run a concentricity report comparing the two cylinders or
2. Create an axis (line) for each cylinder and then using the concentricity report compare the two axes?

Just reporting the concentricity two cylinders will work. When cylinder is used, the datum cylinder axis is used rather than the part coordinate system. I suggest using the longer of the two cylinders as the datum if there is a longer one.
