I am getting a large variation in measurements when manual inspecting a part and with what the CMM is measuring. I have a dimension going in the z-direction that is differing .005" between CMM measurements and manual methods although the parts are held in the same fashion. I have a similar issue when going in the x-direction although the parts are also fixtured in a similar fashion. My alignment is solid and all the other features on the same axis are dimensionally spot on. Where else can I look to find my mistakes and correct them?
There are a lot of factors that can affect this. Are you measuring between points, lines, or planes? Are you reporting in one axis (ZA vs ZX or 3D)? Are you programming from a model? If not, are you certain the probe is moving along the correct vector? A little more detail will help troubleshoot the problem.
