iNexiv Rotary Indexer Setup and Calibration

Post by US_Helpdesk » Tue Sep 15, 2015 4:38 pm

1) Enable the Rotary Indexer from Machine Setup

From System>Setup>Machine Setup choose the Rotary Table tab.

Check the Enable Rotary Table check-box

Table Type -> Other Add-on Rotary Table

Direction of rotary table normal -> normally X+ on VMA-2520 (could be any orientation except Z-)

Select DCC option

Controller Interface -> Newmark NSC-A1

Select Indexing

Encoder Type -> Add-on

2) Calibrate Rotary Table / Indexer

From System>Setup>Rotary Table choose Calibrate Table

Set Calibration Parameters as shown below:

Note the large Clearance Distance. This prevents collision of artifact when indexing during calibration routine.

Note the actual sphere and stem diameter and direction for the calibration artifact. We suggest something like this:

Click OK and follow all prompts. Software will prompt user to place probe above sphere artifact for first two positions, all subsequent positions will execute in full DCC. Calibration will execute twice and then report overall radial deviation. If this deviation is acceptable click OK to complete.

Note: Typical radial deviation is usually a couple microns (0.002mm)

32-bit and 64-bit drivers are here:

Just for clarity: All the settings are in MM, correct?

All linear units are in your current units. Could be Inch or mm depending on current settings. In my case the units were mm's.

Here are some details on a suitable calibration artifact - notice I've used M3 components due to added rigidity compared to M2 counterparts:

Here are the links to each component:
