Re: True position report for hex

ASME Y14.5-2009 also specifies in section 7.3.3.1 paragraph 2 that you can interpret position requirements with a "surface interpretation" so long as the limits of size are maintained. In other words you are allowed to figure out the minimum and maximum boundaries for the feature and use profile to ...

Re: Reporting Position (GD&T)

What standard is this drawing to? If the title block says ASME Y14.5 then the feature control frames are not written correctly. I'm not sure what the European standard requires. In 14.5 the datums in the lower portions of the feature control frame need to be in the same order as in the ones above th...

Re: Add Move vs Get Tip

This can be a frustrating thing sometimes with PH20. I have also seen that adding a Get Tip command before a PH20 measurement will help get the probe to measure the way I want. For those times when the Get Tip method does not work, I will create a feature to act as an obstruction then add it to cad ...

Re: Program stops in middle of Loop

I hope someone else out there is cleverer than me but here is my two cents: I prefer your looping method for a part like this but CMM Manager may not allow you to do it this way. It is odd that your program is hung-up but if you do get past that roadblock you will discover a problem with syncing. Th...

Re: Report Position of Hole to Parallel Plane Datum

MMB on planes is weird but is pretty cool in how it works...sometimes MMB of a plane will allow mobility of the datum reference frame, and sometimes it will not. For the case of |C|A m|B| you may find that you can ignore the MMB modifier applied to datum A. Then, if you have some out of tolerance pa...

Re: Report Position of Hole to Parallel Plane Datum

MMB for planes is ok in certain cases. Section 4 of Y14.5-2009 talks about it.

The way I read the standard, I don't think |A|B m|C| is proper but something like |C|A m|B| would work.

Re: Lots of Trouble with Simple Radius Calculation - Help?

You could simplify your calculation by avoiding the GETREPORTINFO command and the system methods with this... = == = == = == = == = == = == = == = == x1 = GetFeaturePropertyAct("CIRCLE1", 1) y1 = GetFeaturePropertyAct("CIRCLE1", 2) dist = sqr(x1^2+y1^2) dist = -dist dist = abs(dist) msgbox(dist) = =...

Re: Report

You have discovered the nature of cloud to cad reports. Crazy as it sounds, the nominal values can change, and it is good that they can. In truth, the nominal values aren't changing, the relationship of the measured points to the nominal surfaces is changing. The nominal values in your text report a...
