Software Angle rationale

Hello, I am trying to figure out the rationale behind how CMM interprets angles. In the "Angle Between" reporting option, we can choose between using an axis or a workplane as an initial or terminal angle. I'm not clear on how the software determines which is the initial and which is the terminal an...

Free Position Problem

Hello, I wrote a program using version 3.8 that begins to proceed through a basic 321 alignment after positioning the probe in a certain place of the workpiece--as instructed in the Free Position step of the program. This would zero out the DRO and then the probe would proceed from there to take its...

Min/ Max difference formula for measured point sets

Hi All, I'm interested in obtaining a block of vb code that would take two measured points (or a number of measured points) and produce a difference result that could then be used itself in a max/min math formula. For example: two points along the X-axis: one measures -1.5" and the other +2.0. The v...

Re: inconsistent actuals between inspection report and banks

I sent a clip of the program concerning the particular feature (circle's Z-axis distance) to the help desk on Friday. The reporting involved was the standard measurement report that results from a DCC program run in program mode. We do have a similar reporting problem that was described in the Decem...

inconsistent actuals between inspection report and banks

Hello all, CMM Manager 3.7.1.5252 is generating an part inspection report actual that is inconsistent with the actuals appearing in the Feature, Program, and Report Data banks. All three banks state the same exact value whereas the part inspection report gives a value within approximately .003" of t...

Re: 6-point nest iterative alignments without CAD

Thank you for your assistance. I am going to issue a help ticket with a copy of a demonstration of this problem using a 321 alignment and a block, because we need resolution and if the software is damaged, we need to know immediately. I had sent in a ticket earlier in the week, but did not get a res...

Re: 6-point nest iterative alignments without CAD

Yes, Using the Iterative 3-2-1 option, and the report does not show the vectors, but upon review of the nominals in the Datum Alignment Line of the program, both the nominals in the path and points are exact as specified on the print.

Re: 6-point nest iterative alignments without CAD

Ok. Never mind the second alignment. It doesn't exist. I created a rough origin. Ok? then I programmed a Datum alignment--inputing 6 target points and their vectors. Then I ran the program. At the conclusion of the run, the Best fit report appeared showing nominals that were not identical with those...

Re: 6-point nest iterative alignments without CAD

The datum alignments are not the same. They are two different datum reference frames. As for sending the project, I cannot do that (unfortunately), due confidentiality. With that said, is there anything you can do to help explain why the nominals in the first datum reference frame's Datum alignment'...

Re: 6-point nest iterative alignments without CAD

I'm not certain that solves the problem: The program was merely a program consisting of two datum alignments--one after another--with the second one starting off from where the first one finished. In other words, the second datum alignment used the final origin and alignment of the first to begin it...
